Some notes about it... Don't know if it's on purpose or not (of course CCWS will say they don't care about it) but May 13 is Pole day at Indianapolis and May 21 is Bump Day... so if someone from CCWS wants to go for the pole they'll have to qualify then fly down to Houston right after.
Secondly the Las Vegas race is tentative pending a review by LVMS and CCWS.

Re: Champ Car releases 2006 schedule
Mon, August 15, 2005 - 8:10 PMPhiladelphia is still a strong possibility for being added to the schedule. CCWS says they're waiting for the city politicians to get the concensus together and not wanting to push too fast.
For 2007, there's a good chance of Otaru in Japan (resort town next to Sapporo, Japan's fifth largest city) pairing with Beijing early on the schedule - making two separate Pacific Rim trips (four races away from home would be too much). Plus a street race in or near Detroit. -

Re: Champ Car releases 2006 schedule
Thu, September 22, 2005 - 12:28 PMI like the street circuit format that Champ Car is taking, purely from a marketing standpoint, but I still have to wonder how much longer this series is going to hang on. Champ car's golden boy Paul Tracy is testing for Richard Childress Racing in Nextel Cup which leads me to wonder if he's seeing the end in sight.
I was invited to Champ Car pre-season testing at California Speedway's infield road course and the teams look dismal. I've almost seen better funded teams in SCCA Club Racing.
Just waiting for the day when Champ car teams start showing up towing their Lolas on open trailers with old pickup trucks. -

Re: Champ Car releases 2006 schedule
Tue, September 27, 2005 - 8:41 PMouch. but I do know what you mean...
Tracy could be a good contender in Nextel. His aggressive style and his finese from open wheel racing could be a good challenge for him. -

Re: Champ Car releases 2006 schedule
Wed, September 28, 2005 - 1:02 PMProblem with Nascar is that you gotta be a good 'ol boy to to get respect. Nobody will work with Tracy because he's a newcomer and it's almost like an initiation he'll have to go through. He won't be able to find drafting partners for a while. But once he does get established and wins the respect of other drivers, I think you're right. He might be a force to be reckoned. -

Re: Champ Car releases 2006 schedule
Sat, October 1, 2005 - 2:48 AMTrue, but that's one of the reasons why I like Gordon - not a good 'ol boy and is from California. -
-
Re: Champ Car releases 2006 schedule
Wed, October 5, 2005 - 11:14 AMBoth Gordon's (Robby and Jeff) had to go through the same "initiation" when they started. I think Jeff had it a little easier because he came from sprint cars and had come up through the "roundy round" ranks.
You're seeing the same thing now with Boris, who in my opinion is one of the better drivers this country has produced in a long time. Compare that to how much easier guys like Kyle Busch or Carl Edwards have it and you'll see how the good 'ol boys like to help each other out. -

Re: Champ Car releases 2006 schedule
Wed, October 5, 2005 - 12:56 PMHuh? What are you talking about. Only driver there I've heard of is Robby Gordon, but he retired from Champ Car years ago.
Anyway, it sounds like there coudl be as many as 20 to 22 cars at the final race of the 2005 season in Mexico. There's even a rumor that Chip Ganassi could be fielding two cars! -

Re: Champ Car releases 2006 schedule
Thu, October 13, 2005 - 12:55 PMSorry, we started talking about Champ Cars and got sidetracked into NASCAR. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Champ Car releases 2006 schedule
Thu, October 13, 2005 - 12:57 PMSpeaking linking the series...
AJ Foyt IV is leaving IRL to join Nascar... -

Re: Champ Car releases 2006 schedule
Thu, October 13, 2005 - 1:01 PMLooks like Ansan, S Korea is getting dropped from the schedule. The Koreans haven't paid up yet. -
-
Re: Champ Car releases 2006 schedule
Thu, October 13, 2005 - 1:06 PMYeah Champ Car spinned it as dropping the race proves they're dedicated to putting on a world-class show. Korea wasn't up to our standards, so we dropped them...
